Western Auto Pics was established in Sydney NSW in 1996 by Kathleen and Lee Davis.
The love of Motorsports started in the mid 70's by regularly attending Liverpool Speedway and Drag Racing at Castlereagh in Sydney's outer west.
Being based on the East Coast of Australia, the time between Castlereagh's Last Race in 1984 and Eastern Creek Raceway opening in November 1990, we travelled around Australia to all different race tracks, with Speedway, Drag Racing and Circuit Racing which included the famous Bathurst 1000, just to keep my Motorsport passion alive.
With the introduction of Drag Racing at Sydney's Eastern Creek Raceway in the early 90's, I was shooting at the time for Toohey's (through my association with the Prospect Hotel). When I was approached by David Cook, who asked me to submit some photos for his Dragster Australia Magazine.
From then on, I have been a regular contributor with photos that are featured in this Magazine.....an association which continues today.
Through my association with Dragster Australia Magazine, I was able to visit the United States in 1991 and 1994 were I was able to attend 5 NHRA National Events. Being an accredited photographer on the start line at Denver, Sonoma, Seattle and Indy, was a privilege that I will never forget.
